BT3 Accessory Table clamp- Home Made version
This idea came to me after I had some movement of the router table that comes with the BT3 table saws. The accessory table is a standard accessory. It allows you to mount a router or a jigsaw to the tablesaw to give you much more versatility in your woodworking. It saves a lot of space for small shops. The problem with using the AT with a router installed is that it wants to move while routing. The table only comes with a clamp on one end. To get the second clamp for the AT, you need to purchase the router kit. I had never purchased the kit, but did need a clamp. This is how I solved the problem with a LeeWay version of the OEM AT clamp. |

A vital part of this clamp is one of Jeff's now Rob's T-nuts.This was a 1" wide T-nut with 5/16"-18 thread that fits inside the rear rail.
Without one these T-nuts, it would have been more difficult to make this. You can't see them in the pictures, but they are what allows the knob to tighten up against the clamp. I would say that his nuts help to make jig making and accessory fitting on the BT3's, a pleasure. They are extremely well made and are a perfect fit for all of the slots on the BT3's.
I used 1/8" scrap aluminum stock to make this out of. You could use steel also. Just a little cutting, filing, bending and drilling is all that is needed. This clamp is a Safety feature. You certainly don't want your router table to move on you when you are in the middle of cutting a dado. The result could be colorful and disastrous. Use the graphic below as an aid for making your own Accessory Table clamp. Always strive to work as safely as possible. With this clamp addition, you are moving toward this ideal. It is well worth the little time it takes to make. |
