Current Lead Time:
The lead time for a new order is probably more than 4 months.
We have record order volume currently.
There is no need to use Paypal to get on the waiting list. Just send an email with the model and options you would like.
I prefer this method. We could settle up just before your order ships. Feel free to ask about the status of your order or the availability of your particular model or possible lead time at anytime via email.
What is brand new is that we are now making all splitters and riving knives out of 304 Stainless Steel. I think these are a better product than the powder coated steel ones were previously. Also as of August 12, 2013, colors will no longer be an option. 99.9% of the orders in the past have been black or red. All new orders from this date will be a combination of black and red. Black screws with mostly red parts of the guard. The splitters and riving knives will of course, be stainless steel brushed finish. We still have R&D in the works for other upgrades and products. With a 4 month plus lead time though, R&D takes a back burner and I get to those as I can. If you want to get on the waiting list for a Shark Guard, just send an email with the details of the order you would like.

What you should know before ordering
This model uses a spring plunger type bracket. This makes swapping splitters basically a snap in and out operation by pulling the knob back. This model will fit the Ridgid 3650, 2424, 3612 and some Craftsman models to include the 113.298150 ,298151, 298240, 298470, 298720, 298721C, 298722, 298751, 298761, 298762, 298842, 298843, 298844, 299040, 299315, 299510. If you are wondering about other models, just contact me.
The way this model mounts is to first mount the rear bracket to the triangular shaped aluminum splitter mount that came on your saw. This bracket is fully adjustable and has two mounting holes and 4 set screws to adjust the splitter to 90 degrees with the table top. The OEM guard has a slight bend at the bottom and this counters that offset.
Install one of the splitters into this bracket by slipping the splitter into the slot and pulling out on the knob. The release the knob making sure that it is fully seated. This indicates a good lock into the splitter.
Now you can align this splitter to the blade using a straight edge and a speed square. Use the speed square to set the splitter bracket so that the splitter is 90 degrees to the table top to bottom. Then you can use the straight edge to align the splitter to the blade. Once this is all aligned, make sure everything on that bracket is tight. You will no longer need to remove this bracket. You can now just swap out the three splitters using just the spring plunger and they should be aligned each and every time with no more adjustment.
The rest of the shark works like it does on the other model guards and you can see that elsewhere on this site. You can also use some paste wax on the splitters to help things slide along a little better. My splitters are thicker than what came with your saw. I will add more ino when it becomes available. All splitters and anti-kickback pawls are powder coated semi-gloss black.
Below you can chose your dust port size, your color choice, splitter / riving knife thickness and other options. Scroll down to see these.
How to determine splitter or riving knife thickness
These are my typical recommendations on which thicknesses to choose when ordering. The thicknesses we offer are actually just standard steel gauges. 13, 12 and 11. The smaller the number, the thicker the stock. Here is a link to standard steel sheet gauges. Steel Gages.
Most older factory supplied guards use 14 gauge and even less in some cases. Until recently, this was typical. Now with newer saw designs coming out that are equipped with riving knives, more and more are shipping with .090 inch thick factory knives. These are the thicknesses we start out with. Then when we powder coat them, it adds a couple mils of coating to each side. There is a tolerance and generally my material is a bit under my posted thicknesses and rarely do they finish out above it. When it is thicker, it is very minimally so.
About mid year 2013, we switched to using 304 stainless steel for all splitters and riving knives. We brush finish these. We are no longer powder coating them. The raw finished stainless steel is a far more durable product and won't corrode when powder coating gets worn off.
It has been our experience that getting a splitter very close to the blade thickness is bad. It can often result in sticking, pinching or otherwise binding on nearly every cut. This is also not safe. It will cause you to want to apply more pressure to feed and that is undesirable.
You may have seen guys cut lumber the exact thickness of the kerf and use this as a splitter mounted into the throat plate. The reason that works is because the splitters are so small in area, they don't have enough surface to cause much friction. The larger area of bigger splitters will cause issues if they are too thick. We only sell a few of the thickest versions. They would be ideal on a saw in a cabinet shop that was dedicated for sheet goods. They also work on saws that have an easily adjusted splitter mounting bracket. Some are easy and some can be a bear.
We sell the thin kerf the most. .090 inch thickness. We recommend these for guys that use both type blades. Thin kerf and standard kerf. It actually works well for both because of the area of the splitter surface. Guys that don't own any thin kerf blades usually order the .105 inch. These are just a little thicker and may even support the guard just a bit better because of it.
You need to check your thin kerf blades with a caliper or micrometer before ordering. In the past few years, some blade manufacturers are pushing the limits with ultra thin kerf blades. We feel theses are too thin to use safely. The best option is not to buy blades that thin. If the blade is too thin to use the factory safety equipment, then how wise of a purchase can it really be?
We can make special order thinner splitters and riving knives, but for each different model we sell, there are issues that will arise when using thinner stock. Just email if you need something thinner and we will let you know what differences you might see.
To sum up, a good splitter or riving knife should be just a bit less than the thickness of your kerf. Safety should be easy and trying to use a splitter that is too thick is a step in the wrong direction. One that is too thin is just as bad.
