Shark Riving Knife for Ryobi Plans
This page is obsolete. I will keep it up, but the info within is outdated. The shape will still fit the Ryobi BT3100 and like saws.

How to Make a Shark Riving Knife
Click on the pattern thumbnail to the right. It will take you to a PDF file. You only need to print out page 2 of this PDF and you will have a good pattern for a true riving knife for the BT3000 and like saws. You can use mild steel or aluminum for this and these are available at nearly any hardware store or craft shop. The thickness that I have found best to use is .090" thick. Drill the two 5/16 inch holes for the top of the mounting slots and cut everything else with a jigsaw or bandsaw. Clean up your edges with a file or a grinder or sander. It is helpful to bevel the leading edge, or curved portion and the very bottom edge. If it is steel, you may choose to paint it and if its aluminum, there would be no need to paint. Keep it waxed up and you should have no trouble with this thickness for any carbide tipped blade. I do recommend that you use lock washers or lock nuts on the mounting bolts. The BT's don't vibrate much, but it is better to be safe than sorry. Good luck with it and feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Shark Splitter slot locations and Big Dog clamp tab dimensions
Shark Splitter Slots Click the image and then you can print out the template at 100 DPI setting on your printer.
Big Dog Clamp Tab This image prints at 100 DPI also. You can use pop rivets or sheet metal screws to mount this plate to the bottom of the knob side or left side of the clamp.
Aluminum Sharktail Template This image prints at 100 DPI. You can use pop rivets or sheet metal screws to mount the other aluminum angles needed for mounting one of these to the front portion of the shark guard.

If you have any problems with this, please feel free to contact me.
Good luck and I hope you like the Shark Splitter as much as I do.
