Sharktail hook.
This is a new item as of January 10th, 2007.
I think I have finally hit on a solution to an area on the shark's that bugged me for quite some time. I didn't have the actual problem in use, but a few guys have mentioned it. If you try to feed stock that is too high to go under the clamp, there is a possibility that the shark would lift up to high and the feeding action would slip it off the rear studs. Not a real good situation.
Also if you pick the guard up and sit it on the front stud to use a ruler or tape to measure to the fence, you could push it back too far and it would fall off that way.
I think I solved the problem with a simple piece of aluminum and a washer or two.
I will add these to all new sharks. It is possible to add these to your sharks for all but the 1.0's. They didn't have this same issue. Retro fits would be a $5 which includes $4.75 for priority shipping. I think cost wise, it's a useful investment. If you have already placed an order, no charge. These will all be safety red in color.
If interested, just drop me an email.
I have added a second item below that will be for guards with metal tails. The first item is for full plastic guards.
Since there may be a little variation in where these bolt holes are going to be located, you will have to mark your own and drill them out yourself.
3/16 inch hole is plenty big. The plastic guards will use the existing left rear screw. The metal tailed guards have a rivet back there. You can move the screw hole up to avoid this rivet. It should still function the same with the screw up a little higher. You will receive the aluminum hook and two 1/4 inch washers for the all plastic guards. You will receive an extra screw and lock nut for the metal tailed versions.
The washers are to help extend the left rear bushing away from the clamp to allow the hook to slide under the outer washer. You may or may not need them.
I hope to have a few photo's showing how to mark and attach these soon. It is pretty simple though. As always, if you have questions, just ask away.
